# Railway Hacks, Bounty Success, Call for Feedback

This week we took a break from shipping features to hack on a number of futuristic Railway concepts. (We also needed a bit of a break after shipping [Launch Week 01](https://railway.app/changelog/2023-09-29-launch-week-01) and then converging in New Orleans for an [offsite last week](https://railway.app/changelog/2023-10-06-railway-retreat-04).)

We can’t give away all the details of what we worked on, but we’d love to tell you about some of our favorite projects from the past week.

Sound good? Let’s do it!

## Railway Hacks 2023

[Image: One of the projects we picked up was exploring a new Public Profile page for Railway users]

- Faraz explored a new concept for a Public Profile page in Railway. He also hacked together a way to deploy a GitHub repo directly from a URL. And because that wasn’t enough, he ALSO delivered a prototype of a new feature-flagging concept that would allow Railway users to opt-in to [Priority Boarding](https://docs.railway.app/reference/priority-boarding) features on a feature-by-feature basis
- Melissa wrote a new demo project that showcases a number of advanced Railway features like [Private Networking](https://docs.railway.app/reference/private-networking) and [Horizontal Scaling](https://docs.railway.app/develop/services#horizontal-scaling-with-replicas) while also inviting the user to limit-test the platform and see how it performs
- Jitachi experimented with a number of different concepts including the Public Profile concept, a filtering mechanism for service settings, and a new way to organize numerous environments within a Project
- JR explored new drag-and-drop and grouping principles for services in the Railway project canvas
- Cooper hacked together a way to tunnel via the CLI from local dev into a Railway Private Network over encrypted WireGuard
- Miguel wrote a handy Discord bot for internal use that will help us leave reminders for ourselves
- Angelo wrote a nifty docker-compose → Dockerfile converter
- Last but not least, Pierre successfully demonstrated a socket binding detection prototype, which down the line might enable a way to show visually which services are communicating within a project

## Template Bounty Program Ends

[Image: Dozens of new templates are now available in the Template Marketplace]

We wanted to take the opportunity to send a huge THANK YOU to all the members of our community who participated in the Template Bounty program.

We ended up paying out more than $7,000 across [38 submissions](https://github.com/orgs/railwayapp/projects/2/views/1) and we couldn’t be more excited to continue building up our template library.

We invite you to [take a look and see what’s new](https://railway.app/templates).

And if you want to submit your own template to the library?

Well, just [read the docs](https://docs.railway.app/reference/templates) to get started!

## Call for Feature Requests

Q4 product works starts in earnest for us next week and we have a lot of really exciting stuff planned.

As we get rolling, we’d love your feedback on the features you MUST HAVE to make Railway work for you and your team.

Take a second and [let us know](https://feedback.railway.app/) what you need — we read every submission carefully.

That’s all the news for this week, thanks as always for your support. 💚
