# Railway Provided Variables, Support Migration, Improvements to Refunds

Why hello there!

We’re excited to bring you a new shipment of features this week straight from the Railway feature factory.

What’s in store you might be asking?

Let’s find out!

## Railway Provided Variables

[Image: We now make it clear what default variables Railway provides at the service level]

[Railway Provided Variables](https://docs.railway.app/reference/variables#railway-provided-variables) have arrived!

Railway Provided Variables provide a set of system environment variables to all builds and deployments — think of them as a default set of variables that you can reference or bring into any Railway project, thus saving yourself a bunch of valuable time and energy.

To get started, all you need to do is pop open a service and tab over to `Variables`. From there you should now see a dropdown of these variables available to reference. Nice!

For more information on the variables that Railway provides out of the box, be sure to [check out the docs](https://docs.railway.app/reference/variables#railway-provided-variables).

## Support Now Flows Through Help Station

[Image: The new support experience revolves around the Railway Help Station]

If you missed [last week’s update](https://railway.app/changelog/2024-02-16-private-threads#private-threads-), we introduced Private Threads for Pro users to the Railway [Help Station](https://help.railway.app/).

This week, we’ve cut over the `Support` option in the dashboard to Help Station as well.

That means that the next time you hit the `Support` button, we’ll be directing you to the all-new [native support experience](https://help.railway.app/) that we’re building for Railway.

Why is this a big deal? In short, because it will help us deliver you the very best support experience possible.

More specifically:

- You’ll rarely need to leave the Railway application to get the help you need in the time you need it
- You’ll be able to access support experiences that get better and better with time
- You’ll get a history of your support requests
- You’ll also get access to the broader Railway community
- You’ll get faster replies from Railway experts

We hope you like it and can’t wait to bring you more improvements.

Onward!

## Sensible Refund Policy

If you ask us, one of the longstanding issues in our industry is the reluctance of cloud providers to accommodate reasonable requests for refunds and reimbursements when something goes wrong.

We want to be different.

If you’ve run into irreconcilable issues with Railway as a platform, shouldn’t you be entitled to get your money back?

We think so.

To that end, we want to let you know that we’ve shipped an improvement to the automated refunds system on Railway.

In other words, if something goes terribly wrong and you’ve decided to request your money back, we’ve made that process substantially easier.

Here’s how the refund flow works:

- Step 1: Visit the [Billing](https://railway.app/account/billing) page
- Step 2: Locate the invoice to dispute
- Step 3: Hit the `Refund` button

That’s all there is to it.

Thanks for your business, we’ll always do our best to earn your continued loyalty and treat you the way we’d like to be treated.

## Fixes and Improvements

- We updated [Nixpacks to v.1.21.2](https://github.com/railwayapp/nixpacks/releases/tag/v1.21.2)
- We introduced a new way to leave feedback or comments on Railway docs. Look for the new prompt at the bottom of your favorite docs page!
- Did you notice how cool Templates look when you share them on Twitter now? Check out posts reference templates from [AnythingLLM](https://x.com/tcarambat/status/1760448153063653648?s=20), [Rivet](https://x.com/rivet_ts/status/1758178631908803016?s=20), [Flowise](https://x.com/davepoon/status/1758106663796801579?s=20), [MinIO](https://x.com/JustJake/status/1757663493812326526?s=20), or [Supso](https://x.com/schoolboytom/status/1757034946453991595?s=20) for inspiration.
- Legacy plugins will soon start to disappear from your projects. As mentioned before, February 23rd is the last official date you have to migrate from the dashboard. Over the next week we will be removing these plugins. We will keep an archive of all non-locked plugins that can be requested and used to restore from manually.
