## Volumes on Railway Metal Beta

You already know by now that Railway is racking our own hardware for our and your benefit. (Mostly yours.) Great news! Volumes are now deployable on Railway Metal.

Benchmarks already show that Metal Volumes can be up to 10x faster in certain scenarios.

If you're not in Priority Boarding yet, you can enable it from your [account's feature flags page](https://railway.com/account/feature-flags).

With this release, there are a few caveats to keep in mind:

- Metrics don’t exist for Metal Volumes yet
- Built-in backups are disabled
- You can’t move your volume from GCP to Metal
- Copy volume data is disabled

While Volumes on Metal is still in beta, we want to make sure the experience is reliable and tough as nails before opening the gates for full migrations from GCP to Metal.

Our next big step? **Migration from GCP to Metal**. We’re working to make it enjoyable and painless as possible.

## Railway Metal live in South East Asia Region

Singapore, you just got Metal! 🎸⚡

Railway Metal is now live in `asia-southeast1` , which means hobby users can finally deploy or relocate their stateless services across Asia. No more waiting, no more hoping—just pure, blazing-fast Metal, primed and ready for your workloads. Volumes are available to all users in Priority Boarding. If you’re not enrolled, you can enable it in your [account’s feature flags](https://railway.com/account/feature-flags).

[Two weeks ago](https://railway.com/changelog/2025-02-14-railway-metal-amsterdam), we cranked up the volume by launching Railway Metal in Amsterdam’s `eu-west` region. Now, we’ve gone full throttle with our latest drop in Singapore.

This isn't just about adding more pins to our map; it’s a massive leap in our quest to bring fast, affordable, and rock-solid infrastructure to developers everywhere. With Singapore in the mix, teams and users across Asia get lower latency, better performance, and snappier deployment experience.

## Fixes & Improvements

- We’ve enabled publishing Railway functions as templates. 
- We fixed a bug with users not being able to click on the invoice refund link on their billing dashboard.
- We fixed UI bugs relating to default workspace plans and links.
- We fixed an issue with users experiencing double database deployments.
- Non-pro templates now default to Railway Metal.
- We improved the retry policy for crons.
- Fixed an bug where filtering the log view would change the active environment
- Fixed a bug that prevented parenthesis in variable references
