## Documentation

# Deploy and Host AsoBeast on Railway

[AsoBeast](https://asobeast.com) is an open-source App Store Optimization (ASO) tool for the Apple App Store and Google Play. It tracks your keyword rankings every day down to position 200, watches competitors' listings and reviews, and turns that history into a to-do list ranked by impact.

## About Hosting AsoBeast

AsoBeast runs as four services: a PostgreSQL 18 database, a Redis 8 queue, a NestJS API and a Next.js web app. The API reads public App Store and Google Play data on a daily schedule, keeps ranking history in Postgres and runs its jobs through Redis. Only the web app is public; it reaches the API over Railway's private network. Secrets are generated at deploy time, and the API runs its database migrations on first boot. Open the web domain and create the owner account, after which registration closes automatically. Email alerts and AI summaries stay off until you add their variables, and webhooks are set up inside the app.

## Common Use Cases

- Track daily keyword rankings for iOS and Android apps in 175 App Store and 225 Google Play countries
- Get alerted when a competitor changes their title, icon, screenshots or version, or when your ranking drops
- Work through an impact-ranked ASO task list and audit store listings out of 100
- Ask Claude Code, Cursor or another MCP client about your rankings through the read-only MCP server

## Dependencies for AsoBeast Hosting

- PostgreSQL 18 for ranking history, listings, reviews and actions
- Redis 8 for the job queues that run the daily rank checks

### Implementation Details

The API and web images come from GHCR on the `1` tag, so a redeploy picks up 1.x releases. Redis runs without a password on the private network, exactly like the Docker Compose stack, so keep public networking off on `Redis`, `Postgres` and `api`. Optional settings such as `SMTP_HOST`, `SMTP_FROM` and `OPENAI_API_KEY` go on the `api` service and are listed in the [configuration reference](https://docs.asobeast.com/configuration/reference). Source code (AGPL-3.0): [github.com/AsoBeast/asobeast](https://github.com/AsoBeast/asobeast). Prefer not to run it yourself? The same app is hosted at [asobeast.com](https://asobeast.com).

## Why Deploy AsoBeast on Railway?
