## Documentation

# Deploy and Host Bunker on Railway

Bunker is a self-hosted platform for internal apps. Drop in HTML, a folder, a zip, Markdown, a CSV or Excel sheet, a notebook or a single React file and it becomes an app your team can open, with sign-in, roles and data rules handled for you. One small Go program, one data folder.

## About Hosting Bunker

This template builds Bunker from its Dockerfile on GitHub and runs one service with a volume mounted at /data, where Bunker keeps its SQLite database and uploads. Railway generates a public domain, and Bunker detects it automatically, so there is nothing to configure. After the first deploy, open the domain, go to /setup and enter the BUNKER_SETUP_CODE from the service variables to create your admin account. Keep the service at one replica: SQLite lives on the volume, so Bunker runs as exactly one instance.

## Common Use Cases

- Sharing internal tools, dashboards and prototypes behind company sign-in (built-in accounts, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace or OIDC)
- Turning spreadsheets, CSVs and notebooks into small apps with shared data
- Giving AI agents a place to deploy apps through the CLI, API or MCP endpoint

## Dependencies for Bunker Hosting

- A Railway volume mounted at /data (included in this template)
- Nothing else: no external database, cache or object storage

### Implementation Details

The template sets BUNKER_RUN_UID=0 because Railway volumes are owned by root, and generates a random BUNKER_SETUP_CODE. Health checks use /healthz (from railway.json in the repository). Source and docs: https://github.com/kucukkanat/bunker

## Why Deploy Bunker on Railway?

Railway is a singular platform to deploy your infrastructure stack. Railway will host your infrastructure so you don't have to deal with configuration, while allowing you to vertically and horizontally scale it.

By deploying Bunker on Railway, you are one step closer to supporting a complete full-stack application with minimal burden. Host your servers, databases, AI agents, and more on Railway.
