# Deploy and Host Credential Protocol on Railway

Credential Protocol gives creators signed membership cards on a server they own. Members sign up on your website, receive a cryptographically signed card and a personal access link, and the content you gate behind it opens for them. No platform in the middle and no platform cut: your members, your keys, your money.

## About Hosting Credential Protocol

Credential Protocol is a small Python web app (Flask, served by gunicorn). Each deployment is a private copy with its own admin dashboard, its own signing key, its own member list and its own storage. You log in with a password you choose, fill in your brand and tiers, and paste two lines of HTML on your website to show the sign-up widget. Members-only content, uploaded files, per-tier card designs, member limits, renewals, reminders, backup and restore are all built in.

## Common Use Cases

- Paid or free membership tiers for a creator site, with a signed card for every member
- Gating downloads, links, files and discount codes so only verified members can see them
- Selling access by manual approval (any payment method) or automatic Stripe checkout
- Giving cards to friends and collaborators, renewing members, and emailing expiry reminders
- Keeping a downloadable backup of your members, settings and signing key

## Dependencies for Credential Protocol Hosting
Credential Protocol needs only a persistent Volume and an admin password to run. Everything else is optional.

### Deployment Dependencies

- A persistent Volume mounted at /data (created for you by this template). It holds your members, signing key, settings, content and uploaded files.
- Your own admin password, which you type in when you deploy.
- Optional: a Brevo account (BREVO_API_KEY and GMAIL_ADDRESS) to email cards and reminders to members.
- Optional: Stripe keys, only if you want automatic card checkout.

### Implementation Details

After deploying, open https://your-domain/admin/login and log in with your admin password. The dashboard has a setup checklist that walks you through branding, tiers, payments and content, and shows the two lines to embed on your site.
