# Deploy and Host EmpirioLabs AI Chatbot on Railway

EmpirioLabs AI Chatbot is an open-source streaming chat app for the text models in the EmpirioLabs AI catalog. Choose a model from the live catalog, read replies as they stream in as Markdown, and run it on your own domain with your own API key. It is built with Next.js and the AI SDK.

## About Hosting EmpirioLabs AI Chatbot

The template deploys one Next.js service from the EmpirioLabs-AI/empiriolabs-chatbot repository. Enter your EmpirioLabs AI API key as `EMPIRIOLABS_API_KEY` when you deploy. The app reads it only on the server and never sends it to the browser. Railway builds the app, checks `/api/health` before each deployment goes live, and gives it a public domain. To share a public demo without your key, set `DEMO_MODE` to `true`: each visitor then enters their own key. `EMPIRIOLABS_MODEL` sets the model the chat starts with.
