# Deploy and Host FleetMS on Railway

FleetMS is open-source fleet maintenance: work orders, inspections, fuel and parts. You set the admin login on the deploy form, sign-up is invite-only, and every email field is explained.

## About Hosting FleetMS

You get FleetMS with private Postgres, a volume for files and per-deploy secrets. Sign in at your FleetMS URL with the email and password you typed, then create your organization. Add your team by username, or by email once it's set up.

FleetMS uses about 650 MB of memory, so it needs a Trial or paid plan; the Free plan's 0.5 GB is too small.

Back up both volumes. FleetMS is a learning project: test it before relying on it.

### Set up email (optional)

1. Check your plan: email over SMTP needs Railway Pro. Free, Trial and Hobby block it.
2. On the deploy form, set `SMTP_RELAY` to your provider's server: `smtp.gmail.com`, `smtp.sendgrid.net`, `smtp-relay.brevo.com` or `smtp.resend.com`.
3. Set `SMTP_USERNAME` and `SMTP_PASSWORD`. Gmail: your address and an app password (turn on 2-Step Verification, then create one at myaccount.google.com/apppasswords). SendGrid: `apikey` and an API key. Brevo: your SMTP login and SMTP key. Resend: `resend` and an API key.
4. Set `EMAIL_FROM` to an address your provider accepts; with Gmail, your own address.
5. Already deployed? Add the same variables to the fleetms service and redeploy. Invitations, password resets and digests then go out.
