# Deploy and Host Gitea on Railway

[Gitea](https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea) is a lightweight, self-hosted Git service with repositories, issues, pull requests, code review, packages and CI.

## About Hosting Gitea

This template runs the official `gitea/gitea:latest` image with a persistent volume at `/data` holding repositories, configuration and the built-in SQLite database. The public URL is already set as the server root URL. On first visit you see the install page: keep the default SQLite3 database, scroll to Administrator Account Settings to create your admin user, then click Install. Git over HTTPS works through the public URL; SSH is not exposed.
