## Documentation

# Deploy and Host Jantt on Railway

Jantt is an interactive JSON Gantt chart engine and project planning workspace for turning declarative schedule data into editable timelines. It combines drag-and-drop task management, dependency visualization, critical path analysis, multiple zoom scales, Kanban and checklist views, project health analytics, and client-side export tools in a browser-ready interface.

## About Hosting Jantt on Railway

Railway hosts Jantt as a single Docker image containing the compiled Vite playground and an nginx web server. The image is built ahead of deployment, and Railway supplies a public HTTPS domain with simple service configuration and health visibility.

## Tech Stack

- TypeScript and React
- Vite production build
- nginx Alpine static web server
- Declarative JSON schedule schema
- Firebase client integrations (optional)
- Docker multi-stage build

## Why Deploy Jantt on Railway

Railway provides a fast one-click deployment path for the browser workspace, automatic HTTPS, straightforward port routing, and observable service logs. The Docker-only template is deterministic and does not require a source build during deployment or a database service for the core interactive experience.

## Common Use Cases

- Project roadmaps and delivery schedules
- Critical path and dependency review
- Agile Kanban planning
- AI-generated declarative timeline visualization
- Schedule health and earned-value exploration
- Embedding a lightweight planning workspace for teams

## Deployment Notes

The `jantt` service is an HTTP service listening on container port `80`; Railway sets `PORT=80` for routing. No start command override is required because the image's nginx command is the correct production entrypoint. The core app is client-side and has no required database, credentials, or persistent volume. Optional Firebase features require build-time configuration in a custom image.

## Dependencies for Jantt on Railway

Jantt is a standalone web service. It has no required database, cache, worker, authentication, or other Railway service dependencies. The Docker image contains the compiled frontend and nginx runtime.
