# Deploy and Host Jenkins on Railway

[Jenkins](https://github.com/jenkinsci/jenkins) is the open-source automation server used to build, test and deploy software through pipelines and a large plugin ecosystem.

## About Hosting Jenkins

This template runs the official `jenkins/jenkins` image with a persistent volume at `/var/jenkins_home`, so jobs, plugins and settings survive redeploys. On first visit Jenkins asks for the initial administrator password: open the service's Deploy Logs in Railway and copy the password printed between the rows of asterisks, paste it into the Unlock screen, install the suggested plugins and create your admin user.
