# Deploy and Host Neo4j on Railway

[Neo4j](https://github.com/neo4j/neo4j) is a graph database that stores data as nodes and relationships and is queried with Cypher.

## About Hosting Neo4j

This template runs the official `neo4j:5-community` image with a persistent volume at `/data` and modest memory settings (1 GB heap, 512 MB page cache). The login is `neo4j` with a random password generated into the `NEO4J_AUTH` variable (format `neo4j/`): read it in the Variables tab. The public URL serves the HTTP API on port 7474, for example `POST /db/neo4j/tx/commit` with basic auth. The Bolt protocol is not exposed publicly.
