# Deploy and Host Openfront Construction with Railway

Openfront Construction is a self-hostable construction project and company-operations application. Prospective clients can explore services and request work, while project participants use scoped portal access. Teams manage preconstruction, contracts, budgets, procurement, execution, field records, documents, safety, billing, and approvals.

## About Hosting Openfront Construction

This template provisions the application from [its GitHub repository](https://github.com/openshiporg/openfront-construction), PostgreSQL, and a private native Railway Bucket named `Storage`. The database starts empty; no demo records or reusable credentials are included. Initialize the application using the repository's onboarding instructions after deployment.

`DATABASE_URL` references Postgres and the five `S3_*` variables reference the Storage bucket. Generated per deployment: `SESSION_SECRET`.

The app gets a Railway-generated public domain. No custom domains are included.

### Admin Dashboard
Manage pipeline, projects, store settings, setup, service requests, portfolio through dedicated dashboard workspaces and permission-controlled data screens.

### Storefront
Public routes cover services, project portfolios, `/start-a-project`, estimates, bids, RFPs, and customer request accounts. The `/portal` surface provides project-specific collaboration rather than unrestricted dashboard access.

### Project Workspaces
Organize project teams, schedules, preconstruction, contracts, financials, procurement, execution, field activity, and reporting.

### Documents & Controlled Approvals
Manage documents, invitations, approval policies and decisions, project records, and participant portal workflows.

### Client Requests & Delivery
Capture public intake and service requests, expose customer request status, and route workflow events through an outbox. Payment or webhook configuration must be supplied separately from the project record itself.

## Common Use Cases

- Project Workspaces
- Documents & Controlled Approvals
- Client Requests & Delivery

## Dependencies for Openfront Construction Hosting

The app needs a PostgreSQL database and S3-compatible object storage. Both are provisioned by this template.

### Implementation Details

Next.js and Keystone 6 with a GraphQL API, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. Payments, email, and other external providers need their own operator configuration; this template does not activate them.
