# Deploy and Host Openfront Financial with Railway

Openfront Financial is a self-hostable portfolio and financial-operations application for paper and reviewed record workflows. Users can explore markets, portfolios, orders, activity, watchlists, and funding records. Operators manage account connections, approvals, compliance records, reporting, and provider observations; the included Alpaca adapter accepts paper-trading credentials only.

## About Hosting Openfront Financial

This template provisions the application from [its GitHub repository](https://github.com/openshiporg/openfront-financial), PostgreSQL, and a private native Railway Bucket named `Storage`. The database starts empty; no demo records or reusable credentials are included. Initialize the application using the repository's onboarding instructions after deployment.

`DATABASE_URL` references Postgres and the five `S3_*` variables reference the Storage bucket. Generated per deployment: `SESSION_SECRET`.

The app gets a Railway-generated public domain. No custom domains are included.

### Admin Dashboard
Manage reporting, tasks, store settings, transfers, compliance, accounts, portfolio, orders, advisory through dedicated dashboard workspaces and permission-controlled data screens.

### Storefront
The public market surface includes `/markets` and `/markets/[symbol]`. Signed-in customer routes cover portfolio, trade, orders, activity, watchlist, and funding; these screens do not imply authorization for live brokerage or bank execution.

### Portfolio & Account Records
Maintain brokerage connections, accounts, positions, assets, prices, snapshots, watchlists, tax lots, dividends, and statements.

### Orders, Transfers & Ledgers
Track orders, fills, transfers, bank-account records, deposits and withdrawals, financial transactions, journals, and postings. Paper or locally recorded activity must not be confused with settled external funds.

### Approval & Provider Governance
Review compliance records, connection consent, provider imports and observations, approval policies, agent proposals, decisions, and execution evidence. Provider connection and sync workflows are restricted to supported paper configurations.

## Common Use Cases

- Portfolio & Account Records
- Orders, Transfers & Ledgers
- Approval & Provider Governance

## Dependencies for Openfront Financial Hosting

The app needs a PostgreSQL database and S3-compatible object storage. Both are provisioned by this template.

### Implementation Details

Next.js and Keystone 6 with a GraphQL API, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. Payments, email, and other external providers need their own operator configuration; this template does not activate them.
