# Deploy and Host OpenObserve on Railway

[OpenObserve](https://github.com/openobserve/openobserve) is an observability platform for logs, metrics and traces with SQL search, dashboards and alerts, built to cut storage cost versus Elasticsearch.

## About Hosting OpenObserve

This template runs the official `public.ecr.aws/zinclabs/openobserve:latest` image on port 5080 with a volume at `/data` for local storage. The root user is `root@example.com`; its password is the generated (24 characters) `ZO_ROOT_USER_PASSWORD` variable (see the service Variables tab). Open the URL and sign in with those credentials, then change the account or add users in the UI. Send data to `/api//...` endpoints with basic auth using the same credentials.
