## Documentation

# Deploy and Host RabbitMQ on Railway

[RabbitMQ](https://github.com/rabbitmq/rabbitmq-server) is an open source message broker supporting AMQP, MQTT and streams, with a web management UI.

## About Hosting RabbitMQ

This template runs the official `rabbitmq:4-management` image with a volume at `/var/lib/rabbitmq`. The management UI is public on port 15672; sign in as `admin` with the generated `RABBITMQ_DEFAULT_PASS` (see the service variables). Other services in the same Railway project reach AMQP on port 5672 through the private domain `rabbitmq.railway.internal` (adjust to the service name).

## Common Use Cases

- Queue background jobs between services
- Pub/sub messaging inside a Railway project
- Inspect queues and exchanges in the management UI

## Dependencies for RabbitMQ Hosting

- One service with a volume; nothing else

- [Docker image](https://hub.docker.com/_/rabbitmq)

## Why Deploy RabbitMQ on Railway?

Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain.
