## Documentation

# Deploy and Host RSS-Bridge on Railway

[RSS-Bridge](https://github.com/RSS-Bridge/rss-bridge) generates RSS and Atom feeds for websites that don't publish one. That includes YouTube channels, Telegram channels, Reddit, Mastodon, Bandcamp, plus generic CSS-selector and XPath bridges for any page. It ships 400+ bridges.

## About Hosting RSS-Bridge

This template runs the official `rssbridge/rss-bridge` image, which is nginx plus PHP-FPM, as a single service. There is no database: feeds are cached on local disk and rebuilt on demand, so the service needs no volume and stays on the smallest instance size.

By default the instance is **private**. A random access token is generated at deploy time, and every request must carry `&amp;token=`. Feed readers handle this because the token is part of the feed URL. To run a public instance, clear `RSSBRIDGE_authentication_token`.

## Common Use Cases

- Follow YouTube, Telegram or Reddit in a normal feed reader, with no account or algorithm.
- Turn any page into a feed with the CSS Selector or XPath bridge.
- Feed a self-hosted reader (Miniflux, FreshRSS, Nextcloud News) or an automation tool (n8n).

## Dependencies for RSS-Bridge Hosting

- None. One container.

### Implementation Details

All configuration is set through environment variables named `RSSBRIDGE_<section>_`, which map to `config.ini.php`:

| Variable | Default | Purpose |
| ---------------------------------- | --------------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| `RSSBRIDGE_authentication_token` | random 32 chars | Access token; clear it to go public |
| `RSSBRIDGE_system_enabled_bridges` | `*` | Comma-separated whitelist, or `*` for all |
| `RSSBRIDGE_system_timezone` | `UTC` | Timestamps in feeds |
| `RSSBRIDGE_cache_type` | `file` | `file`, `sqlite`, `memcached` or `null` |
| `RSSBRIDGE_error_output` | `feed` | Show bridge errors in the feed, HTTP or not |

First use: open the public URL, enter the token, pick a bridge, then copy the generated feed URL (it includes the token) into your reader.

Health: `/` and `/?action=health` return 401 without the token, so Railway's healthcheck probes `/UNLICENSE`, a static file nginx serves directly. CI checks `/?action=health&amp;token=…`.

## Why Deploy RSS-Bridge on Railway?

Railway is a single platform for deploying your whole stack: servers, databases, AI agents and more. It handles the infrastructure, so you don't have to manage servers or configure scaling.

When you deploy RSS-Bridge on Railway, you're one step closer to running your full stack with minimal effort. Host your servers, databases, AI agents and more on Railway.
