# Deploy and Host Shields.io on Railway

[Shields.io](https://github.com/badges/shields) is the service behind the badges in millions of READMEs: build status, versions, downloads, coverage and custom static badges as SVG.

## About Hosting Shields.io

This template runs the official `shieldsio/shields:next` image. The server listens on Railway's PORT, so there is nothing to configure: open the public URL to see the badge builder, or request badges directly, e.g. `/badge/build-passing-green`. Some services need tokens for higher rate limits (e.g. a GitHub token as `GH_TOKEN`); add them as service variables later, as described in the self-hosting docs.
