# Deploy and Host Stirling PDF (All-in-One PDF Tools) on Railway

Stirling PDF is a powerful, locally-hosted web app for working with PDFs. Merge, split, rotate, compress, convert, watermark, sign, add or remove passwords, run OCR, and 50+ other operations — all in your browser, with your files never leaving your own server.

## About Hosting Stirling PDF (All-in-One PDF Tools)

This template runs Stirling PDF as a single self-contained container behind a public HTTPS domain, with a persistent volume for settings and any added OCR language packs. No external database is required. Login is enabled by default: sign in as `admin` using the auto-generated password stored in the service's `SECURITY_INITIALLOGIN_PASSWORD` variable, then change it in settings. To run it as an open, no-login tool instead, set `SECURITY_ENABLELOGIN=false`.

## Common Use Cases

- A private, self-hosted alternative to Adobe Acrobat online, Smallpdf, or iLovePDF
- Batch PDF operations for a team without uploading documents to a third party
- OCR and text extraction from scanned documents on your own infrastructure

## Dependencies for Stirling PDF (All-in-One PDF Tools) Hosting

- None — Stirling PDF is a single stateless service with no database requirement.

### Deployment Dependencies

- Stirling PDF project: https://www.stirlingpdf.com
- Documentation: https://docs.stirlingpdf.com
- GitHub: https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF

### Implementation Details

The container listens on port 8080 (mapped to the public domain) and persists configuration to a volume mounted at `/configs`. Initial admin credentials come from `SECURITY_INITIALLOGIN_USERNAME` and an auto-generated `SECURITY_INITIALLOGIN_PASSWORD`.
