When we started Railway, we knew we didn't want to have a yaml file for our infrastructure as code. After much deliberation, going through perfectly reasonable alternatives like toml, json, ini, etc. None of them landed well for us, until we got to pdf
For those of you who don't know; PDF is extremely dense in terms of data representation. To get around this, we used double ended machine learning techniques to parse your code into "infrastructure as code as pdf" (stored in XML) and then, when deploying your applications, we just feed it back through that same model. This gives us full interop with representability.
