Another week in the books, more improvements for you. Let’s dive in.
Much Faster Metrics
We didn’t roll out a nice loading animation to be stared at all day. After a few words of encouragement with our metrics service, it’s feeling more prepared to serve at the scale we need it to.
What this means: we have cut service metrics load time by more than half. More time for graphs.
Nixpacks Open Beta

Nixpacks, our alternative to the Heroku and Paketo buildpacks, is now available for everyone on the platform as a builder on Railway. Just go to the service settings and select it.
We have already seen new use-cases enabled by Nixpacks.
- Support for pnpm meant that a team can use Turborepo projects on Railway with much faster build-times
- Another team is using Nixpacks to host Unity game server for their development environment for testing
- Pure functional developers can now run Haskell in production and prove any doubter wrong
…and with our OSS bounties, there has never been a better time to contribute.
Service Level Billing
We now show a project cost breakdown by service on the billing page. This should make it easier to see what services are taking up all your monthly credits.

As always, if there happens to be any confusion around your bill. We are more than happy to walk ya through on our Discord server.
Improvements and Fixes
- Played whack-a-mole with the builder logs, should be more resilient now
- Fixed an issue with the metro service pane not extending all the way to the bottom
- Team support channel creation hit the Discord channel limit, all fixed now
