Author: What? What kind of apps do you need if you’re living in a biodome run by Triassic reptiles? And why on EARTH would you also need Kubernetes for those apps?

Executive: Buddy I’m not the creative here.

Author: So let me get this straight. You want me to write about a group of captive humans, who are needlessly writing YAML files, who are being overseen by literal dinosaurs? 

Author: I mean this premise is actually totally up my alley …

Executive: Great! They’re gonna love it.

Author: Wait a minute, who will love it? Is the CNCF sponsoring this? Are they sure that’s a good idea, the whole dinosaur thing? It’s a little on the nose, isn’t it?

We’ve been talking about this meteor for a while, but on Monday we’re officially going to start turning off Trial projects after 30 days if no upgrade is made.

, this only impacts Trial projects and the reason we’re doing this is to pave the way for a new free plan that’s coming shortly.

 to arrive today, but we’ve put off the announcement until next week to give us a bit more time to finish 

New safety measures are now in place to protect inadvertent volume deletions

We wanted to tell you that we’ve introduced a couple of new safety measures to protect you from inadvertently deleting volumes.

While previously it was possible to delete a volume attached to a service even if the service requires the volume to function (think something like Postgres), it’s now 

 to delete the essential volume without deleting the entire service first. 

In addition, we now prevent you from mounting these essential volumes to the wrong path.

If you want to know some backstory here, well, we felt very sad when we heard a couple stories of users losing or nearly losing data by inadvertently deleting essential volumes. After we heard about it a couple times, we quickly made the change to discourage this behavior.

It’s an honor to run your workloads on Railway and we’ll always consider your data (and your trust) our most important responsibility.
