Deploy and Host Convert on Railway

Convert is a private browser-based universal file conversion on Railway.

About Hosting Convert on Railway

Deploy the upstream GHCR container as a single Railway web service. Railway provides managed networking and a public HTTPS domain for the browser-based file conversion UI.

Tech Stack

  • TypeScript and Vite frontend
  • Nginx web server
  • Browser-side file conversion with WebAssembly and JavaScript handlers
  • Docker image from GitHub Container Registry

Why Deploy Convert on Railway

Railway provides one-click container deployment, automatic HTTPS, simple environment configuration, and observable service health without requiring server administration.

Common Use Cases

  • Private in-browser conversion of documents, images, audio, and video
  • Self-hosted conversion utility for a team or homelab
  • Browser-accessible universal file conversion endpoint

Deployment Notes

The service listens on container port 80 and is exposed through the generated Railway HTTPS domain. The application is served under the /convert/ path and the root redirects there. No authentication or persistent storage is required; files are processed in the browser. PORT=80 is included for Railway routing.

Dependencies for Convert on Railway

Convert is a standalone frontend container and has no database, cache, or other service dependencies.
