About Hosting Dossier on Railway

Railway runs Dossier from its published versioned GHCR image, with PostgreSQL as a private dependency and a persistent volume for backups and generated files. The public Railway domain routes HTTPS traffic to the application on port 3000.

Deployment Notes

The Dossier service listens on port 3000 and exposes /api/health for health verification. DATABASE_URL references the PostgreSQL service. DOSSIER_PASSWORD is generated as a Railway secret and hashed at startup by the required start command. DOSSIER_SECRET must remain stable. Mount /data for backups and generated downloads. Configure an AI provider in the Dossier settings or add the supported DOSSIER_AI_* variables.

Dossier requires one PostgreSQL service for migrations and application data. The app service also uses a persistent volume for backups and generated files.
