Deploy and Host Etherpad on Railway
Etherpad is a self-hosted, real-time collaborative editor: several people edit the same document at once and see each other's changes as they type.
About Hosting Etherpad
This template runs the official etherpad/etherpad image with a persistent volume at /opt/etherpad-lite/var, so pads and their history survive redeploys. Pads are stored in Etherpad's built-in file database, which is fine for personal and small-team use. Anyone who opens the URL can create and edit pads, so share the link only with people you trust.
A password for the admin panel is generated for you: open the service in Railway, go to Variables and read ADMIN_PASSWORD. Sign in at /admin as the user admin to manage plugins and settings.
Common Use Cases
- Write meeting notes or drafts together in real time
- Share a quick scratch pad with a link
- Add plugins for Markdown, comments, tables and more
Dependencies for Etherpad Hosting
- One service with a volume; nothing else

Why Deploy Etherpad on Railway?
Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain. Open the URL after the deploy and create your first pad.
