Deploy and Host GitHub Release Monitor on Railway
GitHub Release Monitor is a self-hosted app that watches repositories on GitHub, GitLab and Codeberg and notifies you when a new release appears.
About Hosting GitHub Release Monitor
This template runs the official ghcr.io/iamspido/github-release-monitor:latest image with a persistent volume at /app/data, so your repository list and settings survive redeploys. Login is required (Basic mode). The one-time setup token that creates the first admin account is the AUTH_SETUP_TOKEN variable of the service: find it in the Railway Variables tab, open the app URL and use it to create your admin account. Add a GitHub token and mail or Apprise settings later in the service variables to enable higher rate limits and notifications.
Common Use Cases
- Get notified about new releases of the tools you depend on
- Filter releases by channel or regex patterns
- Send alerts by email or through Apprise (Telegram, Discord, Slack and more)
Dependencies for GitHub Release Monitor Hosting
- One service with a volume; nothing else

Why Deploy GitHub Release Monitor on Railway?
Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain. Open the URL after the deploy and create the admin account with AUTH_SETUP_TOKEN.
