Deploy and Host Harness Open Source on Railway
Harness Open Source (formerly Gitness) is a developer platform that combines Git code hosting, CI pipelines, development environments and artifact registries.
About Hosting Harness Open Source
This template runs the official harness/harness:latest image on port 3000 with a persistent volume at /data, which holds the SQLite database and your Git repositories. The public URL is passed to Harness as its base URL so clone links are correct. On first visit, register a user in the web UI. Pipelines that need the Docker socket are not available on Railway, so use it mainly for code hosting and registries.
Common Use Cases
- Self-hosted Git repositories with pull requests and code review
- A private artifact registry for your team
- Trying the Harness platform without a local install
Dependencies for Harness Open Source Hosting
- One service with a volume; nothing else

Why Deploy Harness Open Source on Railway?
Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain. Open the URL after the deploy and register your account straight away, since anyone who can reach the URL can sign up.
