Deploy and Host Hydrodactyl on Railway
Hydrodactyl is a modernized, open-source fork of the Pterodactyl game server management panel, with numerous performance and user interface enhancements. Hydrodactyl is designed to be user-friendly, making it easier for administrators and users to deploy and manage game servers efficiently.
About Hosting Hydrodactyl
Hosting Hydrodactyl requires you to deploy the panel itself, alongside a database and another cache database such as MariaDB/MySQL and Redis. Hydrodactyl also requires a web server such as Nginx or Apache to serve the panel to users, as it utilizes PHP. For a full deployment, you also need to deploy Pterodactyl Wings, which is the daemon that runs on the game server nodes to manage the game servers.
Common Use Cases
- Minecraft server management
- Game server hosting for various titles
- Selling game server hosting services
Dependencies for Hydrodactyl Hosting
- MariaDB or MySQL
- Redis
- Pterodactyl Wings
Deployment Dependencies
You'll need to deploy the Pterodactyl Wings as a backend for your servers. Check out the official Pterodactyl documentation for more details on how to achieve this.
Implementation Details
The service attempts to create the admin user on every start. If the user already exists, it will fail silently. As a result, changing the admin username, email, name or password after the first deployment may result in multiple users being created.
