Deploy and Host imgproxy on Railway
imgproxy is a fast and secure standalone server for resizing, converting and processing images on the fly. You give it a source image URL and processing options in the request path and it returns the result.
About Hosting imgproxy
This template runs the official ghcr.io/imgproxy/imgproxy:latest image on port 8080. It is stateless, so there is no volume. So that your server is not an open image proxy for anyone on the internet, URL signing is on: the template generates a random hex IMGPROXY_KEY and IMGPROXY_SALT for you. You can find both in the service Variables tab. Requests without a valid HMAC signature are rejected with 403, so open /health to check the server is up. Use the key and salt to sign URLs from your app, following the URL signature docs.
You can restrict sources further by adding IMGPROXY_ALLOWED_SOURCES (comma-separated URL prefixes).
Common Use Cases
- Serve responsive, resized and WebP/AVIF-converted images for a website or app
- Generate thumbnails and crops without storing multiple copies
- Put an image processing layer in front of S3 or any public image host
Dependencies for imgproxy Hosting
- One stateless service; nothing else
Deployment Dependencies
Why Deploy imgproxy on Railway?
