Deploy and Host Kavita on Railway

Kavita is a fast, feature-rich, self-hosted reading server for manga, comics, books and light novels, with a web reader, collections, reading lists, progress tracking and OPDS support.

About Hosting Kavita

This template runs the official jvmilazz0/kavita:latest image on port 5000 with a persistent volume at /kavita/config that holds the database, covers and settings. On first visit open the generated URL and create the admin account right away (the first account to register becomes the admin, so do this before sharing the link). Libraries are folders on the server's disk: Railway allows one volume per service, so create a library under a folder such as /kavita/config/library and add your files there (for example over railway ssh).

Common Use Cases

  • Read manga, comics and ebooks in the browser from your own server
  • Share a reading library with family or friends, with per-user progress
  • Serve an OPDS feed to e-reader apps

Dependencies for Kavita Hosting

  • One service with a volume; nothing else

Deployment Dependencies

Why Deploy Kavita on Railway?

Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain.
