Deploy and Host LibreDB Studio with SQLite on Railway

LibreDB Studio Demo Gif

LibreDB Studio is an open-source web-based database IDE for managing and querying databases from your browser. It supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, SQLite, and other database engines. This Railway template deploys LibreDB Studio with persistent SQLite storage, user authentication, and optional AI-assisted queries.

About Hosting LibreDB Studio with SQLite

Deploy LibreDB Studio on Railway to access your databases through a web interface without installing a desktop database client. The template uses SQLite to store saved connections and settings on a persistent Railway volume, so this information survives service redeployments.

After deployment, open the auto-generated Railway domain to access the login page. The template creates separate administrator and query-only accounts with generated passwords. You can retrieve their credentials from the service's Variables tab. The application listens on port 3000, which must match the configured HTTP Proxy Port.

Common Use Cases

  • Database management: Connect to supported databases and run queries through a browser-based interface.
  • Production troubleshooting: Inspect database contents and investigate issues without installing a database client locally.
  • Team database access: Provide separate administrator and query-only accounts for different access levels.

Implementation Details

  • Access URL: Open the auto-generated Railway domain after deployment.
  • HTTP Proxy Port: 3000. Keep PORT=3000 to match.
  • Persistent volume: Mounted at /app/data for SQLite storage.
  • Login credentials: Open the service's Variables tab and retrieve ADMIN_PASSWORD or USER_PASSWORD. The default login emails are admin@libredb.org and user@libredb.org, respectively.
  • AI assistance: Optional. Configure LLM_PROVIDER and the relevant provider settings if you want AI-assisted queries. Leave them unset to keep AI assistance disabled.
  • Single sign-on: Optional. Configure the OIDC_* variables and set NEXT_PUBLIC_AUTH_PROVIDER=oidc if you want to use an OIDC identity provider.

Keep the automatically generated JWT_SECRET and account passwords private. Do not share administrator credentials publicly.
