About Hosting Next.js

Next.js runs on Railway as a single Node.js service. Railway builds it with Railpack (npm run build), starts it with npm start, and routes traffic to the PORT it provides. Server Components, Route Handlers, Cache Components, and image optimization all run in the same service, with no adapter needed. The template generates a public domain and gates each deploy on a /api/health healthcheck, so a broken build never replaces a working one. Push to your repo and Railway redeploys automatically.
