Deploy and Host Omniclip on Railway
Omniclip is a free and open source video editing application that runs entirely in the browser. It provides powerful editing tools for video, audio, images, and text while keeping projects private by processing everything locally. Developers can also integrate Omniclip's reusable web components into their own applications to build custom video editing experiences.
About Hosting Omniclip
Hosting Omniclip on Railway makes it easy to deploy the web application on reliable cloud infrastructure without managing servers manually. Railway automatically builds the project from your repository, provisions HTTPS, and provides public networking so users can securely access the application from anywhere. Since media processing and project storage are designed to happen locally in the user's browser, the application does not require server-side storage or a database for standard deployments. Railway also simplifies continuous deployments, environment variable management, and scaling, allowing you to focus on developing new features while Railway manages the underlying infrastructure.
Common Use Cases
- Browser-based video editing
- Embeddable video editing components for web applications
- Collaborative media production workflows
Dependencies for Omniclip Hosting
- Modern browser with WebCodecs support
- WebRTC (optional, for collaboration features)
Deployment Dependencies
- GitHub Repository: https://github.com/omni-media/omniclip
Implementation Details
Railway automatically builds the application from the repository. If a Dockerfile is included, no additional build configuration is required.
Omniclip is intended to be exposed using an HTTP proxy. The project documentation does not specify a listening port, so Railway should use the port configured by the application.
No runtime environment variables are documented.
Persistent storage is not required for standard deployments because projects and media remain on the user's device rather than being uploaded to the server.
After deployment, generate a Railway domain from Settings → Networking to access the application over HTTPS.
Why Deploy Omniclip on Railway?
Railway is a singular platform to deploy your infrastructure stack. Railway will host your infrastructure so you don't have to deal with configuration, while allowing you to vertically and horizontally scale it.
By deploying Omniclip on Railway, you are one step closer to supporting a complete full-stack application with minimal burden. Host your servers, databases, AI agents, and more on Railway.
