Deploy and Host Openfront Coffee Shop with Railway
Openfront Coffee Shop is a self-hostable cafe ordering and operations application. Customers can browse the menu, order for pickup, and review their orders. Cafe teams manage counter orders, production queues, payments, recipes, inventory, loyalty, catering, and shifts.
About Hosting Openfront Coffee Shop
This template provisions the application from its GitHub repository, PostgreSQL, and a private native Railway Bucket named Storage. The database starts empty; no demo records or reusable credentials are included. Initialize the application using the repository's onboarding instructions after deployment.
DATABASE_URL references Postgres and the five S3_* variables reference the Storage bucket. Generated per deployment: SESSION_SECRET. Defaults: NODE_ENV=production, PUBLIC_SIGNUPS_ALLOWED=false, RAILPACK_NODE_VERSION=22.
Optional and blank until you configure the provider: SMTP_FROM, SMTP_HOST, SMTP_PORT.
The app gets a Railway-generated public domain. No custom domains are included.
Admin Dashboard
Manage kds, store settings, coffee operations, pos, menu, orders, reports through dedicated dashboard workspaces and permission-controlled data screens.
Storefront
The public menu connects item detail pages at /menu/[id] to /checkout, /order-confirmed, and /account. Order acceptance, payment, and production progress are separate workflow steps.
POS & Kitchen Display
Manage cafe and counter orders, item production states, register shifts, cash movements, and staff shifts. The kitchen display has its own production and recovery authority checks.
Recipes & Inventory
Track ingredients, recipes, inventory items and lots, purchase orders, prep batches, stock consumption, and waste.
Payments & Retention
Record payments and refunds, manage loyalty accounts and events, and update catering orders and subscriptions. Online checkout uses configured Stripe or PayPal adapters; manual payment recording is operator-only.

Dependencies for Openfront Coffee Shop Hosting
The app needs a PostgreSQL database and S3-compatible object storage. Both are provisioned by this template.

Implementation Details
Next.js and Keystone 6 with a GraphQL API, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. Payments, email, and other external providers need their own operator configuration; this template does not activate them.
