Deploy and Host Openfront Convenience with Railway
Openfront Convenience is a self-hostable convenience-store retail and operations application. Customers can browse a local catalog and prepare a basket, while staff manage POS, registers, cash, pricing, purchasing, inventory, prepared food, restricted sales, reconciliation, and reporting.
About Hosting Openfront Convenience
This template provisions the application from its GitHub repository, PostgreSQL, and a private native Railway Bucket named Storage. The database starts empty; no demo records or reusable credentials are included. Initialize the application using the repository's onboarding instructions after deployment.
DATABASE_URL references Postgres and the five S3_* variables reference the Storage bucket. Generated per deployment: SESSION_SECRET.
The app gets a Railway-generated public domain. No custom domains are included.
Admin Dashboard
Manage platform through dedicated dashboard workspaces and permission-controlled data screens.
Storefront
The local shopping surface includes /shop, product detail, /basket, /checkout, and /account. Catalog publication and checkout operate alongside the store's product, stock, and restricted-sale rules.
Store Retail & Cash
Manage POS sales, tenders, refunds, registers, shifts, cash movements, store-day records, bank deposits, and reconciliation.
Catalog, Purchasing & Inventory
Maintain products, variants, barcodes, tax categories, price books, promotions, loyalty, vendors, purchase orders, receiving, lots, counts, transfers, and waste.
Specialized Store Operations
Dedicated workspaces cover prepared food, restricted sales, fuel, lottery, money services, exports, exceptions, and recovery. Provider and hardware activation require separate operator configuration; these workspaces are not certifications for regulated services.
Common Use Cases
- Store Retail & Cash
- Catalog, Purchasing & Inventory
- Specialized Store Operations
Dependencies for Openfront Convenience Hosting
The app needs a PostgreSQL database and S3-compatible object storage. Both are provisioned by this template.
Deployment Dependencies
Implementation Details
Next.js and Keystone 6 with a GraphQL API, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. Payments, email, and other external providers need their own operator configuration; this template does not activate them.
