Deploy and Host OpenPlate on Railway

OpenPlate is an open-source food diary and nutrition-tracking app. This template deploys its official container as a single web service, without a database or persistent volume. Diary data stays in users' browsers, and AI features use provider keys configured by each user.

About Hosting OpenPlate

The template runs ghcr.io/lowcarbcheck/openplate:latest on port 3000, sets the app's public URL, and enables proxy awareness for Railway's reverse proxy. A health check uses /healthcheck. No database or server-side storage is required for this app-only setup. OpenPlate uses its default food database API endpoint, which has a limited anonymous quota; an API key can be added if your use case needs more capacity. The latest image tag follows upstream updates and may change between deployments.

Common Use Cases

  • Personal food and nutrition journaling
  • Browser-based meal tracking
  • Self-hosted access to OpenPlate
  • Client-side AI features using your own provider key
