Deploy and Host Overseerr on Railway

Manual-publish package for the unpublished Overseerr Railway template draft.

Overseerr is an open-source media request management and discovery tool for the Plex ecosystem. It helps users discover movies and shows, submit requests, and coordinate approvals with connected media automation services. This template deploys the pinned Overseerr 1.35.0 container; Plex, media storage, and optional Radarr or Sonarr services remain user-managed dependencies.

About Hosting Overseerr

Hosting Overseerr on Railway requires a public HTTPS service, a persistent volume mounted at /config, and network access to the media services that you administer. This template runs the immutable LinuxServer Overseerr 1.35.0 image on port 5055 with UID and GID 1000, then exposes the web interface through Railway's generated domain. Complete the first-run setup immediately, connect Plex, and add Radarr or Sonarr only when those services are reachable and properly authorized. Monitor volume usage and back up configuration data. The upstream Umbrel manifest now marks Overseerr disabled and directs new installs to Seerr, so review upstream maintenance status before using this image for a long-lived deployment.

Common Use Cases

  • Providing an authenticated self-hosted request portal for an authorized Plex library
  • Letting household or team members discover available media and submit requests
  • Connecting request approvals to user-managed Radarr and Sonarr instances

Dependencies for Overseerr Hosting

  • A persistent Railway volume mounted at /config
  • A Plex account and reachable Plex server for the initial integration
  • Optional reachable Radarr and Sonarr services for automated request fulfillment
  • Sufficient Railway CPU, memory, storage, and bandwidth for the expected users and library metadata

Deployment Dependencies

Implementation Details

  • Image and port: one public Overseerr service runs linuxserver/overseerr:1.35.0@sha256:53a1b839ffa81f139e1552840772bff8a5d13f5c78a69cce22458b9a6cd0844d and listens on port 5055.
  • Health and restart: Railway checks / and uses ON_FAILURE with 10 restart retries.
  • Persistent state: one Railway volume is mounted at /config; Overseerr stores its configuration and database there.
  • Safe variables: PORT=5055, PUID=1000, PGID=1000, and LOG_LEVEL=info are portable non-secret values.
  • Scope: the template includes Overseerr only. It does not bundle Plex, media files, Radarr, Sonarr, downloaders, indexers, or proxies.

This is a community deployment template and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Overseerr project. Overseerr's name and logo belong to their respective owners. The upstream project has directed new users toward Seerr; verify the maintenance status of this pinned release before production use.
