Deploy and Host Portainer on Railway
Portainer is a web UI for managing container environments: Docker, Swarm and Kubernetes hosts, stacks, images and volumes.
About Hosting Portainer
This template runs the official portainer/portainer-ce:lts image with a persistent volume at /data. On first visit you create the admin user; do this promptly after deploy, because anyone who reaches the URL first can create it. Railway has no Docker socket, so connect remote hosts through the Portainer Agent or Edge Agent.
Common Use Cases
- Manage remote Docker and Kubernetes hosts from one UI
- Deploy and update stacks on edge devices with the Edge Agent
- Give a team role-based access to containers
Dependencies for Portainer Hosting
- One service with a volume; nothing else

Why Deploy Portainer on Railway?
Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts. Open the URL right after the deploy and create your admin account.
