Deploy and Host RosterSEO on Railway
RosterSEO is an open-source SEO and AI-search-visibility platform. It combines a Screaming Frog-style site crawler/auditor, keyword and SERP research, competitor tracking, and an AI-answer-engine visibility tracker for ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity — plus native Google Search Console and GA4 integration so recommendations are grounded in your site's real performance data.
About Hosting RosterSEO
This template deploys RosterSEO's prebuilt Docker image straight from GitHub Container Registry — no build step, no manual setup. A PostgreSQL database is provisioned and wired in automatically via a reference variable, and the database schema is migrated on every boot, so there's nothing to run by hand. On first launch you land on a signup screen to create your own admin account; from there you're straight into the dashboard. Bring your own DataForSEO and AI-provider API keys to unlock SERP, keyword, and AI-visibility data — everything else works out of the box.
Common Use Cases
- Agencies and freelancers who want a self-hosted SEO toolkit for client sites instead of paying per-seat SaaS pricing
- Indie hackers and small teams tracking their own site's SEO health and AI-answer-engine visibility (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity) as those become real discovery channels
- Dev teams who want an internal, white-label-able SEO/audit tool wired into their own GSC/GA4 data, without third-party data-sharing
Dependencies for RosterSEO Hosting
- A PostgreSQL database — provisioned and connected automatically by this template, nothing to configure
- A DataForSEO account (login + password) for SERP, keyword, and backlink data
- An AI provider API key (e.g. OpenRouter) to enable AI-answer-engine visibility tracking
Implementation Details
RosterSEO runs as a single Next.js service backed by Postgres. The Docker image bakes in the fix for the most common self-hosting footgun — a Next.js standalone server that doesn't bind to a true wildcard address by default — so it's reachable on Railway out of the box. Database migrations run automatically as part of the container's startup, using Drizzle ORM, so a fresh deploy always comes up on an up-to-date schema. The image is published as ghcr.io/open-saas-org/rosterseo:latest and rebuilt on every push to main, so new deployments of this template always pull the current version.
