Deploy and Host
Self-host Syncidian: an open-source Obsidian sync and AI bridge. This template deploys the Go server from GitHub main, attaches a persistent volume at /data for SQLite and vault files, and exposes HTTP with a /health check.
About Hosting
Syncidian stores users, GitHub App settings, and vault data in SQLite on disk. Railway’s container filesystem is empty on every deploy unless you attach a volume — this template provisions /data so admins and users survive redeploys.
After deploy, open your Railway URL, create the first admin at /admin, and optionally follow Set up the GitHub App for GitHub sign-in or per-user backup.
Why Deploy
- Run your own Obsidian sync server without managing Docker on a VPS
- Keep vault and account data on a Railway volume you control
- Use the built-in MCP server for AI tools against your knowledge base
Common Use Cases
- Personal or team Obsidian sync with a private GitHub repo per user
- Self-hosted alternative to Syncidian.com while the managed service rolls out
- Experimenting with Syncidian before pointing the Obsidian plugin at production
