Deploy and Host Twenty (Self-Hosted Salesforce Alternative) on Railway

Twenty is an open-source CRM — a self-hosted Salesforce or HubSpot alternative that you fully own. Manage companies, people, opportunities and deals in a fast, keyboard-driven interface; build custom objects and fields; track activity with tasks, notes and a kanban pipeline; and automate work through its GraphQL and REST APIs, webhooks and workflows. This template deploys the complete Twenty stack — the application server, a background worker, PostgreSQL, Redis and an S3-compatible MinIO object store — each pinned to a verified upstream image and wired over Railway's private network so it comes up working on the first deploy.

About Hosting Twenty (Self-Hosted Salesforce Alternative)

Twenty runs as a NestJS server plus a separate worker that processes background jobs and scheduled crons, backed by three data services: PostgreSQL for all CRM records, Redis for the job queue and cache, and MinIO for uploaded files and attachments. Because Railway volumes cannot be shared across services, this template uses MinIO S3 storage so the server and worker read and write the same files. It configures every connection string, generates a unique APP_SECRET and ENCRYPTION_KEY on each deploy, points the public URL at your Railway domain, runs all database migrations automatically on first boot, and attaches persistent volumes to Postgres, Redis and MinIO. When the app loads you create the first user, who becomes the workspace owner.

Common Use Cases

  • A self-hosted CRM replacement for teams that want their pipeline and customer data on their own infrastructure instead of a SaaS vendor
  • A customizable sales and contact database, using Twenty's custom objects, fields and views to model your own workflow
  • An API-driven backend for sales automation, connecting Twenty's GraphQL/REST APIs and webhooks to your other tools

Dependencies for Twenty (Self-Hosted Salesforce Alternative) Hosting

  • PostgreSQL 16 for CRM records and metadata (included)
  • Redis 7 for the background job queue and cache (included)
  • MinIO (S3-compatible) object storage for file uploads shared by the server and worker (included)
  • A background worker service running the same image (included)

No external services are required to deploy. To send invitation and password-reset emails you can optionally add SMTP credentials after the first-run setup.

Why Deploy Twenty (Self-Hosted Salesforce Alternative) on Railway?

Railway's private networking, per-service volumes and one-click deploys make running Twenty's multi-service architecture practical without writing Docker Compose or wiring an object store by hand. This template pins every image, generates fresh secrets per deploy, and connects the server, worker, database, Redis and MinIO automatically over the private network — so a working, persistent Twenty workspace is a few clicks away, and each service scales independently as your team and data grow.
