Deploy and Host ArchiveBox on Railway

ArchiveBox is a self-hosted internet archive: give it URLs, bookmarks or browser history and it saves each page as HTML, PDF, screenshot, media and more, so you keep a copy that cannot disappear.

About Hosting ArchiveBox

This template runs the official archivebox/archivebox:latest image on port 5797 with a persistent volume at /data holding the index and every snapshot. An admin user is created on first start: the username is admin and the password is the generated ADMIN_PASSWORD variable on the service. Public index, public snapshots and anonymous adding are switched off, so only signed-in users can see or add anything. Open /admin/ on your public URL and sign in.

Common Use Cases

  • Archive pages you cite or bookmark before they change or vanish
  • Import browser history, Pocket, Pinboard or RSS feeds into a private archive
  • Keep a searchable personal web library

Dependencies for ArchiveBox Hosting

  • One service with a volume; nothing else. Archiving with Chrome uses a lot of memory, so give the service enough RAM.

Deployment Dependencies

Why Deploy ArchiveBox on Railway?

Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain. Add URLs from the web UI after signing in.
