Deploy and Host self hosted CPA Manager Plus with CLIProxyAPI on Railway

This template deploys CLIProxyAPI together with the CPA Manager Plus panel, pre-wired so you can sign in and see usage, cost, quota, failures and account health right away.

About Hosting CPA Manager Plus open-source software on Railway (self hosted CPA Manager Plus template)

CPA Manager Plus is an MIT-licensed, self-hosted management panel for CLIProxyAPI, and this template runs it on your own Railway project so the request history, usage data and account state live in volumes you control.

Why Deploy CPA Manager Plus, the open-source CLIProxyAPI management panel on Railway (Railway Free Trial)

Self-hosting keeps your keys, request history and usage data on infrastructure you control.

Railway is a singular platform to deploy your infrastructure stack. Railway will host your infrastructure so you don't have to deal with configuration, while allowing you to vertically and horizontally scale it.

By deploying CPA Manager Plus on Railway, you are one step closer to supporting a complete full-stack application with minimal burden. Host your servers, databases, AI agents, and more on Railway.

Railway vs Other Hosting Providers and VPS for CPA Manager Plus self hosting

ProviderWhat You Get with RailwayWhat You Get with the Other Provider
DigitalOceanBoth services deploy from the template with generated secrets, domains, volumes and networking already wired.A full droplet where you install Docker, write the compose file and handle firewall and updates yourself.
AWSThe template handles service wiring and health checks, so you skip IAM, VPC and security group setup.Fine-grained control over networking and storage, but a single panel needs more configuration.
HetznerDeployment takes about a minute with no host to size, secure or patch.Low-cost dedicated capacity you can tune, but you own OS updates, Docker and backups.

Common Use Cases for hosted CPA Manager Plus

  • Finding out why requests fail: The persistent request history shows failure rates, status codes, and which models or accounts are affected, so you can spot patterns instead of guessing from scattered logs.
  • Breaking down tokens and estimated cost: Token counts and estimated spend group by model, account, or API key over a chosen time range, showing which client or project drives the bill.
  • Checking account and quota health: Credential state and quota windows sit in one place, so an account that has run out or gone unhealthy shows up before your users notice.
  • Managing providers and OAuth logins from one panel: Provider setup, OAuth sign-ins, and client API keys live together, so you do not edit config files by hand each time you add a credential or hand out a key.
  • Giving clients one OpenAI-compatible endpoint: Your tools point at a single CLIProxyAPI address with one client key, and the panel keeps the underlying provider accounts out of their hands.

Dependencies for CPA Manager Plus Docker hosted on Railway

This template runs two services that depend on each other.

Deployment Dependencies for Managed CPA Manager Plus Service (CLIProxyAPI plus CPA Manager Plus, pre-connected over the private network)

CLIProxyAPI gets a public domain on PORT 8080, a volume at /app/data, a health check at /healthz, and restart policy ALWAYS.

Implementation Details for CPA Manager Plus (Using onepush-dev images built on the upstream CLIProxyAPI 8.0.51 and CPA Manager Plus 1.14.10 images)

The CLIProxyAPI image is ghcr.io/onepush-dev/cpa-cliproxyapi:8.0.51, built on eceasy/cli-proxy-api:v8.0.51.

How does CPA Manager Plus compare against other tools

CPA Manager Plus vs the official CLIProxyAPI Management Center (Official CLIProxyAPI Panel Alternative)

  • Scope: The official Management Center is the panel maintained by the CLIProxyAPI project and suits teams who only need to manage providers and keys. CPA Manager Plus adds a Manager Server that keeps persistent request history, token and cost breakdowns, and account health.
  • Services: Full Mode runs a second container with its own volume. A lightweight option avoids that, but drops the analytics.
  • Setup: On Railway the template wires the management key and private network for you.

CPA Manager Plus vs LiteLLM (LiteLLM Alternative)

  • Model: LiteLLM is a self-hosted gateway that routes to many providers. CPA Manager Plus is a panel for CLIProxyAPI and assumes CLIProxyAPI is already your gateway.
  • Breadth: LiteLLM covers more routing and budgeting features across many backends, so it is the stronger pick for broad provider coverage.
  • Focus: CPA Manager Plus concentrates on failures, quota windows and per-account cost inside CLIProxyAPI.

CPA Manager Plus vs New API (New API Alternative)

  • Role: New API is a self-hosted gateway with its own channel and billing management. CPA Manager Plus sits beside CLIProxyAPI and reads its usage and account state.
  • Accounts: CPA Manager Plus is built around OAuth logins and credential health, which is more specific than New API's channel model.
  • Trade-off: New API may suit teams wanting billing in one product. CPA Manager Plus suits teams already running CLIProxyAPI.

CPA Manager Plus with Docker Compose vs on Railway (CPA Manager Plus Self Hosting Alternative)

  • Control: Docker Compose on your own VPS gives full control over networking, storage and upgrades. Railway trades some of that for managed deploys and volumes.
  • Setup effort: On Railway the services, shared management key and upstream URL are pre-connected, so the first deploy takes about a minute. With Compose you maintain the file yourself.
  • Cost shape: Compose on a VPS is a flat server cost. Railway is usage-based, so the bill tracks RAM, CPU and volume size.

How to use CPA Manager Plus on Railway?

  1. Wait for both services, CLIProxyAPI and CPA Manager Plus, to show as green in your Railway project. This usually takes about a minute on the first deploy.
  2. Open your CPA Manager Plus domain with /management.html on the end, then sign in with the value of CPA_MANAGER_ADMIN_KEY from the service variables.
  3. Add your providers or OAuth sign-ins from the panel. For OAuth logins that redirect to localhost, copy the callback URL the browser lands on and paste it back into the panel to finish the login.
  4. Create more client keys in the panel whenever you need them, so each app or teammate gets its own key.
  5. Point your clients at your CLIProxyAPI domain with /v1 on the end, and authenticate with CPA_API_KEY. A quick check looks like this:
curl https://your-cliproxyapi-domain/v1/models \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_CPA_API_KEY"

How to self host CPA Manager Plus on other VPS Services (CPA Manager Plus self hosting guide)

Clone the Repository

There is nothing to build, since both projects publish images. Create a folder on your VPS and write a compose file with the two services from the upstream README: eceasy/cli-proxy-api on port 8317 with a volume at /app/data, and seakee/cpa-manager-plus on port 18317 with a volume at /data.

Install Dependencies

You need Docker and the Docker Compose plugin on the server.

docker --version
docker compose version

Configure Environment Variables

Upstream needs no env file for this layout. The panel's admin key is generated on first start and printed in the Manager Server log, and you enter the CPA URL and CPA management key in the panel during setup.

Start the CPA Manager Plus Application

Start both services, then read the admin key from the log.

docker compose up -d
docker compose logs cpa-manager-plus

Open http://your-domain:18317/management.html in a browser and finish setup.

Official Pricing of CPA Manager Plus (CPA Manager Plus pricing)

CPA Manager Plus is MIT open-source software and is free to self-host.

CPA Manager Plus hosted vs self hosted comparison (Pricing, features, costs, and more)

Both options are free MIT software with no hosted plan, so the real difference is who runs the servers and pays for them.

Monthly cost of self hosting CPA Manager Plus on Railway

Railway bills on usage, so your monthly cost depends on RAM and CPU use, volume size, and how many services you run.

System Requirements for Hosting CPA Manager Plus on a VPS

A small VPS with Docker installed is enough for one operator or a small team.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Which key logs into which panel?

CPA_MANAGER_ADMIN_KEY signs you into the CPA Manager Plus panel at your CPA Manager Plus domain plus /management.html.

How do clients authenticate?

Clients send CPA_API_KEY as a Bearer token in the Authorization header when calling https://your-cliproxyapi-domain/v1.

Why are there two services?

CLIProxyAPI does the gateway work and holds the provider credentials, while CPA Manager Plus collects usage, cost and failure data and serves the dashboard.

Does the official panel still work?

Yes.

What about OAuth sign-ins that redirect to localhost?

Some OAuth flows such as Claude, Codex or Gemini redirect the browser to localhost, which will not load on a hosted server.

May I use any subscription?

Only use subscriptions and credentials you are allowed to use under the relevant provider's terms.
