Deploy and Host Jellyfin on Railway

Jellyfin is a free, self-hosted media server: it organises your movies, shows, music and photos and streams them to browsers, phones and TVs.

About Hosting Jellyfin

This template runs the official jellyfin/jellyfin:latest image with a persistent volume at /config. Settings, users, metadata and the library database live on the volume and survive redeploys. Put media on the volume (for example under /config/media) or use remote storage, then add it as a library.

Common Use Cases

  • Stream a personal media library from anywhere
  • Share libraries with family through separate accounts
  • Use it with Jellyfin apps on phones and TVs

Dependencies for Jellyfin Hosting

  • One service with a volume; nothing else

Why Deploy Jellyfin on Railway?

Railway gives you a public HTTPS URL, a persistent volume and automatic restarts with no server to maintain. Open the URL after the deploy: the setup wizard asks you to create the admin account and add a media library.
