Deploy and Host MySQL 9.7 LTS on Railway
MySQL 9.7 LTS is a single-node MySQL 9.7 LTS database running on the official mysql:9.7.4 image, ready to deploy on Railway. It provides a plain database service with authentication on and a persistent volume at /var/lib/mysql, using private networking only, so other services in the same project connect privately on port 3306.
Why Deploy
Deploy this template to get a current MySQL 9.7 LTS database without upgrading an older MySQL image yourself. It is a focused, single-node database: no bundled application, no replica set, and no managed backups to configure before you start.
About Hosting MySQL 9.7 LTS
This template contains no app code, no replica set, and no backups. The database restarts on failure, and data is stored on its persistent volume rather than in the container filesystem. The root password is generated at deploy time, while MYSQL_DATABASE, MYSQL_USER, and MYSQL_PASSWORD are optional and empty by default. Reference variables MYSQL_URL, MYSQLHOST, MYSQLPORT, MYSQLUSER, MYSQLPASSWORD, and MYSQLDATABASE are provided for services in the same project.
Common Use Cases
- A standalone database for a Railway application that needs MySQL 9.7 LTS without bundling another service.
- A private database for development or a small production workload where one node is sufficient and backups are managed separately.
- A simple, auditable starting point for a MySQL deployment that can be extended with scheduled mysqldump exports or volume snapshots.
Dependencies for MySQL 9.7 LTS Hosting
This template has no other service dependencies. From another service in the same project, connect with MYSQL_URL. From outside the project, use a TCP proxy. It was verified locally on 2026-11-03. A live Railway deploy test has not happened, so live Railway deployment remains untested.
